The new CD by singer/ guitarist/ producer Kerstin Blodig and her new pan-Scandinavian all-female trio project Huldrelokkk.

Kerstin Blodig (N/D): vocals, guitar, bodhrán, bouzouki

Mia Gunberg Ådin (SE): vocals, fiddle, nykkelharpa

Liv Vester Larsen (DK): vocals, fiddle, percussion

Huldrelokkk – the wood nymph’s beckoning call – play acoustic folk music from three Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden and Denmark, as well as their own material.

These three strong musical personalities create a uniquely powerful blend: not only do their very individual voices and singing styles blend together in one distinct vocal sound, but they are equally strong as instrumentalists with two virtuoso fiddles and a groovy rhythmic guitar.

Trolldans is their first CD together. Over the last year, they have gathered material, rehearsed in three different countries and played concerts to enthusiastic audiences throughout Scandinavia and Germany.

At the beginning of 2011 they finally got together in Berlin for an intense week of recording with Kerstin’s long-time sound engineer colleague, Jörg Surrey, and very quickly agreed on a concept. The idea was to create a live feeling in the studio, playing and recording together simultaneously to preserve the spontaneity which a live concert entails, even to the point of e.g. setting up extra microphones to capture the enthusiastic foot stomping of the fiddlers!

The result is an audiophile feast and a vibrant, lively celebration of Scandinavian music.

“A Scandinavian trio of powerful women”  Bohuslänningen, Sweden 2011

“… a female trio which really makes you sit up and take notice … The dreamy melodies from the fiddle and Nyckelharpa … coupled with the strong and sensitive guitar of Kerstin Blodig form the musical fundament of this band, often rounded off with beautiful three-part vocal harmonies. Solo songs and a-capella further supplemented this sublime performance, which completely enthralled the audience. Frenetic and lengthy bursts of applause between the individual pieces were proof  that even a folk music in a language which only a few people here understand – can be intensely moving and entertaining.” Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung 10/2010

”Grooving folk guitar, dynamic fiddles and powerful harmony vocals in different Nordic languages…one of the freshest sounds appearing on the Nordic folk horizon this spring.”

Lira, Sweden 2011
